Gingerbread houses with grade 8 buddies! (4L)

Making gingerbread houses with our grade eight buddies was really fun! They brought lots of candy. We used icing sugar to glue the graham crackers together, so I guess they weren't really gingerbead houses. A couple of our buddies dumped candy on their houses so they were overflowing. After we made the gingerbread/graham cracker houses, we played games. Some people ate more candy than they put on their houses! Soon it was time for snack and our buddies left. One buddy was left behind, cleaning our bowl of icing. Then Mr. Stuart decided to stay for recess. Recess was fun with our buddies!

Pajama Day and Read-In

Wow, what a day! We got to read with high schoolers on Pajama Day. We read about a boy who always yelled "I need to go pee!" It was awesome! We read all kinds of books. We read "Fish Under Water" which was the best because you could use a flashlight to look at the pictures of sea creatures.
We all read one book with our high school buddies. We got to meet new people (the high schoolers). this is Kaden and Corey reporting on November 17.

Tynehead Hatchery Pictures

Tynehead Hatchery

Grade 4L visited the Tynehead Hatchery today. The hatchery fieldtrip is always very interesting and fun, but today we got to witness how awesome God's creation is. Several volunteers at the hatchery took the big Spawners out of the holding tanks, killed them, and extracted the eggs from the females and the milt from the males. We were so lucky to be part of all this! The students saw and held salmon eggs, looked inside the dissected salmon to see the swim bladder, kidneys, etc. We were also lucky enough to see the Spawners in the river, building and guarding their nests. Here is what Peter Y and Justice wrote about our experience:

We saw Salmon at Tynehead. It was fun! We saw dead fish and live red salmon who were spawning. We saw a man knocking out a salmon with a mini bat. The female salmon were getting gutted by people. We got to touch the dead salmon when they were bleeding. We also got to hold salmon eggs!

Hope you enjoy the slideshow from our fieldtrip!

Grade 8 Buddy Time

Grade 8 buddy visit

Today we met our grade 8 buddies. We showed them how to do the recycling. First I was afraid of everyone because I didn't know anyone and they were so big and they looked like giants! We asked each other questions about ourselves. We then played boardgames. My buddy was good and kind. We played Battleship. My buddy was nice and pretty. We played "Sorry." I want to see them again!

4S websites

Hi Parents and Students,

Some of you asked for the links of the websites we visited in our computer lab. The first two are the food chain games. Have your child show you what they know or perhaps they could test you. The last two websites are mushroom websites that the students were very excited about. Copy and paste the links onto your browser.
